Guidelines

Launch guidelines

LaunchHeat only works if the board is honest. A person reviews every launch against these rules before it goes live, and the same rules apply to every product, paid or not.

What can launch

  • A real, working product that people can use or sign up for today: a SaaS, an app, an AI tool, a developer tool, a browser extension, an API.
  • Something you made or work on. Makers and team members can submit; please don't submit other people's products.
  • One product per account at a time. While one product is in review or live, you can't submit another from the same account. A rejected product doesn't count.
  • Launched once. Each product gets one launch. A major new version that is clearly a different product is fine; relaunching the same product to reset its votes is not.

Your listing

  • Name up to 40 characters, and a tagline up to 80 that says plainly what it does. No ALL CAPS, emoji strings or "#1 best" claims.
  • Description up to 1000 characters: who it's for, what problem it solves, and what makes it different.
  • Logo: a square PNG, JPG or WebP, 1 MB or smaller. Use your own brand mark.
  • Website: your product's own site, working and secure (https). No link shorteners, redirects through other sites, or affiliate links.
  • Pick the category and pricing that honestly match the product.

What gets rejected

We reject submissions that:

  • aren't a real or working product (a waitlist with nothing behind it, a broken or empty site);
  • are spam or very low quality, or copy another product's listing;
  • duplicate a product that has already launched;
  • have a website that is broken, unreachable, or not the product itself;
  • are scams, misleading, or illegal: fake reviews, "get rich" schemes, malware, phishing, or tools built to break other services' rules;
  • contain adult, hateful or violent content, or harass anyone;
  • infringe someone else's trademark, copyright or privacy.

If yours is rejected you'll see the reason on your dashboard. You can fix the issue and submit again; a rejection isn't held against you.

Fair voting

Rankings combine votes, unique visitors and clicks to your site (see how ranking works). Votes must be earned:

  • Do share your launch, ask your users, friends and community to check it out, and add your badge to your site.
  • Don't buy votes, trade votes, offer rewards or discounts for upvotes, or use multiple accounts.
  • Don't organise vote rings or use bots or scripts to vote, visit or click.

Visits and clicks are counted once per person per day, and voting is rate limited. We look for patterns like many new accounts voting from one network, and votes that break these rules stop counting.

Paid placements appear only in clearly labelled "Sponsored" slots, separate from the rankings. Paying never changes a product's score or rank. Sponsored products must follow these same guidelines. See pricing.

If rules are broken

Depending on how serious it is, we may:

  • reject a submission, or remove a product that is already live;
  • stop counting votes that came from a vote ring or other manipulation;
  • suspend an account, which also stops all of its votes from counting.

We use judgement, and when something looks like an honest mistake we'll usually just fix the listing.

See something that breaks these rules? Use Report this launch at the bottom of any product page. A person reviews every report, and the maker isn't told who reported them.
